Review of Muse's "The Resistance"

The band Muse has been a phenomenon in Europe for quite some time, but they are just breaking into mainstream music and the attention they deserve in the USA. With their fiercely rock yet integrate and intelligent songs, coupled with their rock star image, makes them one of the most entertaining bands to both listen to and watch.

The goal of their new album, "The Resistance", is to further progress their musical abilities and stray a little further away from their rock and roll roots. The album starts out strong, with the heavy bassed Uprising. This is also the band's first single, complete with music video. The second song is a strength of the album and my personal favorite Resistance. United States of Eurasia/... is another great one, especially with the multi-layered singing, seemingly a homage to Freddie Mercury and Queen. The final three songs are a group of songs titled Exogenesis. This is a very symphonic group of songs, with strings and integral part of the melody and harmony. They manage to keep their core sound though, easily done with lead singer and guitar player Matthew Bellamy's signature voice.

The greatest part of listening to the band, is that each of the three members makes a fantastic, but equal, contribution to the music; and every member is a great musician in their own right.

All in all a hugely successful album in terms of being solid musically and extremely fun to listen to. I would highly suggest this album to both die hard fans and passers-by, as I have yet to find anyone to truly dislike this.

Well, the number one factor could be that joining these sites is absolutely free. More times than not, a band will go the 'Free' route. Free you say? 2. Marketing & Promoting - Composing great music is the real key to success, but Marketing & Promoting could potentially be the 'make or break' of a band. Caution: Do not make the horrible mistake of trying to trick potential fans by securing a domain name and pointing it to a MySpace page. The question then becomes are they fans that just want to see their 'friend' count go up, or are they truly a fan of your music. This not only helps your website gain rank with search engines, but it allows your fans to go check out your social pages if they so choose.
